Project with Oliver Rutz | Kleinste Gespräche
Premiere: November 23 | Basel Metallbau
Kleinste Gespräche initiates a meandering with and within language material that points to moments where the right, significant word seems all too distant. In a one-hour performance, Oliver Rutz, in collaboration with KlangLab, provides these seemingly insignificant moments of verbal exchange the opportunity to unfold their specific materiality. Swinging speakers hanging from the ceiling give glimpses of conversation snippets and, accompanied by the musicians' musical gestures, remind us of the beginning of a bumpy conversation that might occur when we tend to say (too) much without saying anything, just to say something at all. Oliver Rutz describes Kleinste Gespräche as an exploration of “communication that is handled in passing and peripherally: with small talk and the filler words of verbal exchange. It [Kleinste Gespräche] places them in a position that constitutes place, space, and time.” Oliver Rutz
Duration: 60 minutes
