Project with Bertrand Gourdy Ultima Sera
Premiere: December 19 | online

The conception of Ultima Sera initiated the founding of KlangLab, and the project already tested aspects of collaboration that continue to define the ensemble. In close exchange with the musicians, and through a collective thinking and acting that invites contributions beyond practiced expertise, Bertrand Gourdy developed a sequence of staged miniatures to be performed as an instrumental piece lasting approximately 30 minutes. The composition draws inspiration from Franco Donatoni's piece “L’Ultima Sera” and explores, as Bertrand Gourdy describes it: 'the psychology of the moment just before the world changes - when the impending catastrophe exists solely in the mind of the protagonist. It is the tension between great inner turmoil and the calmness of the outside world that we aim to explore.”

36 minutes
