The handling of time is the decisive factor in any musical occurrence. Tempo, pause, and silence determine tension and dramaturgy. The project T I M E S T R E T C H pushes these parameters to the extreme, challenging the ensemble and the audience in a unique way.

Fritz Hauser, *1953 in Basel/Switzerland develops solo programmes for drums and percussion, which he performs worldwide. Compositions for percussion ensembles and soloists, chamber orchestra, choir. Sound installations (e.g. Therme Vals, Architekturmuseum Basel, Castel Burio Italy, Kunsthaus Zug, Fondation van Gogh in Arles, University of Zurich. Radio plays, music for films and readings. Interdisciplinary works with the lighting designer Brigitte Dubach, the director Barbara Frey, the architect Boa Baumann and the choreographers Kinsun Chan, among others. In the field of percussion he plays and works with percussion soloists and ensembles all over the world.
Numerous CDs as a soloist and with various ensembles.

Fritz Hauser is cultural prize winner 2012 of the city of Basel and cultural prize winner music Basel-Landschaft 1996. In summer 2018 Hauser was "composer-in-residence" at the Lucerne Festival 2018. In 2022, Hauser received the Swiss Music Prize.
