Katarina Leskovr, Cello
Katarina Leskovar is performing internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestra musician and is a recipient of various international prizes. She is a performer that is constantly seeking parallels between old and new, past and present and is therefore working across a diverse array of musical branches.
Katarina has performed at the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Musikverein Vienna, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Semperoper Dresden, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam at the festivals such as Lucerne Festival, Davos Festival, Warsaw Autumn, Klangspuren Festival, Carinthian Summer, Festival Ljubljana and Chamber Music Festival Hohenstaufen. She has premiered works by Beat Furrer, Thomas Kessler, Svetlana Maraš, Judit Varga, Uroš Rojko, Jean-Jacques Dünki and many others.
She was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra with concerts conducted by Herbert Blomstedt, Jonathan Nott and Christian Thielemann with the Staatskapelle Dresden. Katarina performed as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and participated in master classes with members of Ensemble Modern, Ivry Gitlis, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Torleif Thedeen, Wen-Sinn Yang and others.
She completed her soloist studies at the Berlin University of the Arts, and previously studied cello at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, the Hochschule für Musik Basel and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, in the classes of Julian Arp and Danjulo Ishizaka, as well as contemporary music with the ensemble zone expérimentale. She undertook an internship with Basel Sinfonietta.
