Oleksandra Katsalap (UA, 2001)
Oleksandra (Sasha) Katsalap (Kyiv, 2001) is a Ukrainian composer, performer and pianist. After graduating from the R. Glier Kyiv Academy of Music (2022, piano), she completed a Bachelor of Arts in composition and piano at the Basel University of Music in 2025. She is currently studying for a master's degree in composition at the same university under Johannes Kreidler.
Her artistic practiceincludes solo performances, music theatre and sound-focused works. Her compositions have been performed internationally at concerts and festivals, including musica (strasbourg, france, 2024), contrasti (trient, italy, 2024) and ukraine matters (zurich, 2023). Oleksandra is the winner of the Eduard-Brunner Prize 2024 for her work surface for performer, video and tape.
As a pianist, her focus is on music of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as rarely performed ukrainian repertoire.
In addition to her artistic work, she is involved as a concert and workshop organiser with a focus on socially and culturally relevant projects.
